PROTON ROCKET BOOSTS TURKISH SATELLITE TO ORBIT

A new spacecraft for Turkey's state-owned satellite communications operator launched Friday aboard a Russian Proton rocket. Liftoff occurred at 2109 GMT (4:09 p.m. EST) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan to begin a nine-hour flight with the Proton and the Breeze M upper stage.
